Our Date

Tonight I got to have a date night with my little guy. Kyle went to a conference, so Samuel and I got to have a special night together. It all started with an exciting trip to Target where we bought some new big boy boxer briefs. He was super excited to have some undies just like daddy and he could hardly wait until we got home to try them on. When we got home he tried on every pair, even though they were all the same, just in different colors. Then he went to the full length mirror and admired himself looking all grown up. We're in the process of potty training, so hopefully these new undies will be a good incentive to go potty like a big boy. Then we made a picnic and ate our baby pizzas and baby peas while watching part of Hairspray. Now, you may think that my 2 1/2 year old is a little young for grown-up musicals, but Samuel is VERY into singing and dancing and was up imitating the dance moves and singing right along with the movie.

Tonight, when he was marching around Target in his jeans and cowboy boots, it hit me how grown up he is, and how FAST time has flown. It is just so hard to believe that he is almost 3 and no longer my little baby. Sometimes, I still refer to him as my baby or even my little boy, and he quickly corrects me, telling me that he is a big boy now. I LOVE watching him grow up and learn all sorts of new things, but part of me gets sad to see him leave this baby/toddler stage forever. Seems like just yesterday.....

My baby all grown up!
