Since the birth of Baby Travis, I have been pretty concerned about Samuel's reaction to the new baby. When he was first born and we took Samuel to see Baby Travis in the hospital, Samuel got very upset when he saw me holding him. And over the next few visits with Travis, every time was the same. He didn't mind if Emily or my mom help baby Travis, but he did NOT want me to. He even saw a picture of me holding him and told me very seriously, "Do not do that ever again." I asked him how it made him feel when he saw me holding Travis, and he said, "I feel frustrated." So, we just decided to give him a little time, and slowly but surely we gradually got to the point where he was okay with me touching Trav and even holding Trav in front of him if someone else was playing with him or distracting him.
Well, today we had a major breakthrough!!!! We were at Em's and she needed to shower and do some laundry so I got to hold Travis. Samuel went with Emily to help her, but a little later he came back and asked to sit with me in the chair while I held Travis. He then asked to hold him!! It was so adorable watching Samuel hold Travis, rock him, stroke his arm and his hair, and talk to him. He was so wonderful with him! It was such a precious moment! We then took turns holding him and Samuel was so helpful and loved giving Travis his pacifier and entertaining him with rattles. Samuel said, "I am having fun holding him. I like babies!"
Watching Samuel today made me so excited about seeing him help take care of Baby Noah. Tomorrow I begin my 36th week, so the countdown begins! I know that it will definitely be a transition for Samuel and probably hard at first for him to get used to, but I feel SO much better now!

Samuel will be a wonderful big brother. He was so sweet today. I was telling mom how sweet it was when Samuel cuddled up to Travis when Travis began to cry. He was so gentle and caring :)
