Wall-E

Last night as I was putting Samuel to bed, I was telling him about all the fun we would have together when he woke up in the morning. Starting with a yummy breakfast, a fun ride around the neighborhood in our new double stroller, and going to a movie about little penguins and getting to eat lunch in the theater! He was so excited and so was I!
Our morning started off a little rocky. Samuel hadn't slept very well b/c he was coughing a lot and I hadn't slept much either. But I was determined to have a fun day today. So, we ate a quick breakfast and started our walk. Our walk helped put us in better spirits, Samuel enjoyed the breeze and ate his cheerios, Noah slept, and I prayed! Then Samuel and I talked about all the different things we saw on our walk. It was very relaxing! After we got home I took a quick shower and we were off to the theater. When we got there, we found out that the movie was sold out. He was so excited to see a movie that I hated to let him down. I saw that the movie Wall-E was rated G and was playing in a few minutes. I had seen one preview for this movie and I remember thinking that I definitely did not want to see it, but desperate times calls for desperate measures, so....Wall-E it was!
When we got in the theater, the previews had already started, but in the dark we walked across the theater to find some open seats. I wanted to sit somewhere somewhat secluded so that I could nurse Noah when he woke up without anyone else noticing. So, holding my infant carrier in one hand and guiding Samuel with the other, we found our seats with Noah starting to wake up. As the preview continued to play, Samuel had both hands covering his ears because it was too loud. I started to worry that it would hurt Noah's ears as well, so I folded up a burp cloth and wrapped it around his head like a headband to try and filter the noise. I then looked at the menu and realized that this was going to be quite an expensive outing if we both ate lunch. So, I decided that we could just eat lunch at home after the movie. Samuel remembered that I had told him how fun it would be to eat lunch while we watched the movie, so he soon started asking where his food was. So, cheap mommy decided to slurge. We split a lemonade and ordered some popcorn, which was the cheapest thing on the menu. We got our food pretty quickly, but around this time, Noah started to fuss, so I got out my Hooter Hider, which is one of my favorite mommy inventions ever, and started to nurse Noah. The movie had started by now and was loud and a little weird and possibly scary to Samuel. So Samuel wanted to get in my lap.....so the fun begins. Samuel crawls in my lap while I am trying to nurse Noah, who is fussing a little b/c he is under a Hooter Hider, in the dark, trying to find where to nurse and hearing really loud noises. After several very uncomfortable minutes, Samuel crawled back up in his chair and I tried to get Noah to quiet down and fall asleep....which is quite the challenge when robots are blowing things up and you are sitting under the speaker and behind a row of junior high kids. We tried to watch it a little more and ate more than our share of popcorn and lemonade, but soon Samuel started saying pretty loudly how he didn't like this movie and wanted to see the movie about penguins. I jumped at the opportunity to agree with him and tell him that we could leave if he wanted and go do something REALLY fun! I wasn't sure what REALLY fun thing we were going to do, but I had to make it sound super exciting. So, he agreed, and after Samuel and I searched all over the ground in the dark for one of Noah's missing pacifiers, without finding it, we gathered the rest of our stuff and made a small scene as we walked in front of everyone with all of our gear to leave the theater. I payed for our popcorn and drink and they gave us our money back b/c we left before it was even half over. So, Samuel asked what REALLY fun thing we were going to do now. And I thought, What is more fun than going to Nommy's house? So, we were off to my mom's house where we jumped on the trampoline, played basketball and baseball, and played in the sand. Now Samuel and Noah are both sleeping peacefully, and I think I might take a quick nap before they wake up. Oh, the fun adventures of mommyhood! :)
