Roly Poly

Yesterday, Noah rolled over for the first time. Early this morning (at 4:00am), I heard Noah yelp. It wasn't really a cry, it was more a call for help. I hurried in his room to find him on his tummy, in his "swaddle me." Somehow he managed to roll over, even though he was snuggly swaddled. It really scared me b/c obviously when he is swaddled, he doesn't have use of his arms to lift himself up. So, I let him sleep in my arms the rest of the night, b/c I was worried that he would suffocate. I love swaddling him b/c it really has helped him start sleeping through the night, but now that he is such a wiggle worm, I am worried that he will get trapped on his tummy and not be able to breathe. Last night he called out for me, but I don't know if he would always be able to if he got stuck. I also thought about using a sleep positioner that I had when Samuel was a baby, but I have now read that those aren't safe either. Do I need to stop swaddling him now that he can roll over? I would love your advice :)

Noah is such a champ already rolling over. He was so cute yesterday! I like your new play mat too. You'll use that a whole lot.
My vote is to try both (no swaddle or sleep positioner) at different naps during the day so you're awake and can check in on him and see how he does.
I'm sure he'll still sleep well, but I know it's hard especially since you just started getting a good night's sleep.

You might also try swaddling with his arms out--though that might not make him feel as secure. I wonder how he's able to roll over without using his arms and legs?? That's rather amazing. They are both so cute and I love the new background on the blog.

Hudson used to sleep on his tummy still swaddled...I knew he could roll back over if he needed to! I kept Hudson swaddled until he was 6 months old...he started breaking out it! Just do what you feel most comfortable with. I had a friend who's baby kept rolling over and last night she didn't swaddle him and he slept great! I guess you could try it and see how he does! I don't think that helped you, but I hope it did a little bit!
